We had three high school students read a children's story they created. The story was based on real facts about the American Dream. They did a great job presenting and answering any questions the students had.

This weeks unit was rocks and how it is used to make products. The students brought a rock from home or we found some in the playground. At station one, the students had to observe through a magnifying glass the physical characteristics. Station two, the students had to measure the length and circumference of their rock. Station three, the students had to find out if their rock would sink or float, magnetic, and if a penny could scratch it. Station four, they had to predict the weight of their rock, then weigh it on a balance with linking cubes. The kids had fun with the experiments!

I finally remembered to bring the tomato cages for our plants. Our plants were starting to slouch because they were heavy. We have had some tomatoes grow, but the are still green. Soon we will have an abundant and can't wait!

We had a blast at the Student Showcase. The kids were excited, nervous, and ready to explain the many things we learned in science this year. We learned about matter, heat energy, light energy, and sound energy. The kids were able to display and talk about their animals that they made out of clay.
